Social enterprise taps PT&T for connectivity

Philippine Telegraph and Telephone Corp. (PT&T) has signed an agreement with Go Philippines, a community-driven social enterprise, to provide broadband internet for the e-learning platform.

Under the memorandum of agreement, PT&T will deliver internet connectivity and distance learning tools among Go Philippines’ partner schools amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“PT&T continues to seek out opportunities where we, in our capacity and industry, can serve where we are most needed, in this case, in providing much needed infrastructure in the education sector,” Ricky Pena, PT&T general manager for broadband services, said in a statement.

With the pandemic, efficient and reliable internet connectivity is critical to online learning for schools and students.

“Schools moved quickly to adopt distance learning tools to overcome challenges of the
pandemic,” Michael Goldsmith, Go Philippines co-founder and chief visionary officer, said.

“Our partnership with PT&T exemplifies the Bayanihan spirit, permitting us to deliver critical broadband internet solutions for academia improving user experience for a quality education,” Goldsmith added.

Since pre-launch in February 2020, Go Philippines has emerged as a key enabler in extending much needed financial services to the education sector, supporting 3,000 scholarships annually, and pending delivery of the nation’s largest skills training initiative to help 5.1 million Filipinos with online courses and accreditation for employability.

Go Philippines partners consist of Fortune Global 100 and Filipino companies, the Philippine government, and non-governmental organizations associated with academia.
